Points to make
1. One of the best ways of combatting international drug
traffickers is to attack their assets.
HMG has considerable powers in the 1986 Drug Trafficking Offences Act to trace, freeze and confiscate the proceeds of drug trafficking.

These powers can be made available
be made available to other countries. HMG is
therefore anxious to enter into reciprocal agreements with certain countries to combat international drug trafficking.

4. An agreement between UK and Singapore will deter traffickers from laundering their profits in both countries and protect the good name of banks in both countries (as in the cases of Switzerland and
the Cayman Islands).
