1. I have discussed with Lord Glenarthur the proposed programme in Hong Kong telegram number 2961. He is generally content with it. He has asked whether an hour-and-a-half with EXCO members is not slightly on the long side, and would accept the Governor's advice on this. (A short break of a few minutes between the meeting with officials and the EXCO session might not be a bad idea at that stage of the morning).

2. Lord Glenarthur is happy to make a short speech at the dinner on 18 September. He would be grateful for advice on its content.

3. Lord Glenarthur would be happy to see the UK Conservatives Abroad Association. Half-an-hour would be easily enough.

4.

Paragraph four of the telegram refers to accommodation. I would certainly be most grateful for an invitation to stay at Government House. I hope that the implication that this might not have been possible does not mean that I am not automatically included in all the elements of Lord Glenarthur's programme. I am afraid that I invariably stick like a limpet to my Minister on trips abroad and will want to do so in Hong Kong.

-

Although it would not merit inclusion in the formal programme, I hope that a session with a tailor will not be overlooked: Lord Glenarthur regards this as essential.
