LORD GLENARTHUR'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

We spoke about the interview which Lord Glenarthur has agreed to give to the COI. As agreed with the COI, they have now submitted the following questions in advance:
(a) What is your brief in the FCO vis a vis Hong Kong and China?
Why are you visiting Hong Kong at this time?
(b)
(c) In retrospect, do you think the agreement on Hong Kong between Britain and China has been beneficial? Is it holding up well?
(a) In addition to the foreign policy aspects, do you see it as part of your job to maintain business confidence in Hong Kong?
(e) Have you visited Hong Kong in the past?

2. Can I leave it to you to draft suitable answers for use by Lord Glenarthur? As I told you, Gordon Martin of the BBC External Services will also be letting me have questions fairly soon.
