The RHKP delegation was shown demonstrations which included sophisticated physical training, shooting skills, high speed driving skills and tactics in connection with anti-terrorist and hostage situations. Within the grounds of the facility there is an old Boeing 707 Jet aircraft which is used for training in connection with hijacking. The delegation was sat within the plane together with senior Chinese officials when it was "hijacked by terrorists" and later stormed by the SPF. The performance was impressive and professional. A demonstration was given of a rubber bullet which had been invented by the People's Armed Police. The bullet has been designed for use by SPF assault teams in connection with terrorist situations inside an aeroplane. The bullet will incapacitate or kill a human being but will not penetrate the fuselage of the plane. Both the bullet and the handgun which fired it were manufactured in China. Consideration is now being given to arming CID officers with this weapon and ammunition.

Another impressive demonstration was mounted when the delegation was sat inside a bus which was seized by "bandits" and later ambushed and re-possessed by the SPF. Some novel tactics were observed. A further demonstration was mounted covering the rescue of hostages from a building.

During the course of these various demonstrations the delegation saw some useful tactics and equipment which will be the subject of further study in Hong Kong.

During discussions after the demonstrations with the Commander of SPF Mr FAN Zhi-lun(), his staff and Mr LIU Wen(K), the Commissioner complimented the standard of those concerned. It was pointed out that the unit was still less than five years old, has never been tested in real conditions and the Chinese felt they still had a lot to learn. A wish was expressed to visit the similar unit maintained by the RHKP.

It would appear that should an incident occur in Beijing, including the Airport, the Police Force have the capability of dealing with it.
