This represents a projected growth in passenger traffic of 3 times in the next
15 years and in goods traffic of nearly 4 times in the same period. To cope with this demand, CTS-2 has identified additional road and rail projects for
future consideration. These are shown on the map. Let us first look at the
road system.
The existing trunk road network is shown in yellow. The network
under construction are shown in red, and these include:
* The Eastern Harbour Crossing which provides a second link between
Kowlcon ano hong kong;
* Route 5 which joins East New Territories with West New Territories;
* Tate's Cairn Tunnel which joins East New Territories with East
Kowloon ard the Eastern Harbour Crossing to Bong Kong Island;
* The Yuen Long-Tuen Mun Eastern Corridor which links up the new
towns on West New Territories;

The Border Crossing at Lok Ma Chau which provides a third road
crossing across the border and which hopefully will link up with the Shenzhen-Guangdor g-Zhuhai Super-highway;
* Widening of Sha Tau Kok Road to provide an efficient link to East
Guangdong/Shenzhen.
The additional projects currently being evaluated by CTS-2 are shown in blue
and these include :
