passengers travelled to Guangzhou on a busy day to join the flight to Beijing. The existing Faiyur airport could not cope with this increasing demand and an airport in
Shenzhen was therefore needed. The proposed airport in
Shenzhen would cater mainly for domestic air traffic and would not compete with the Hong Korg airport for
international traffic. Sir David remarked that the
experts
both governments should work closely studies relating to air traffic forecasts, air traffic
control, and environmental problems.
2.2.20 In
