The Guangzhou-Shenzhen line after the completion of the work on double-tracking this year, its capacity will

be increased from 11 m tonnes of goods and 10 pairs of passenger trains as in 1983 to 22 m tonnes of goods and 30 pairs of passenger trains. When electrification is

carried out in due course, its capacity will further be

increased to 35 n tonnes of goods and 40 pairs of

passenger trains. In 1986, the tonnage of goods passing through Luohu to ong Kong by this line was 2 m tonnes.

The present capacity is insufficient to cope with the

requirements of the export trace of the country.

The volume of goods passing through Hong Kong in future

will grow 2 S a result of improvements to the above 2

lines and the increase in foreign trade.
