EUROPE IS ANXIOUS TO SUPPORT HONG KONG AND MACAU
A group of members of the European Parliament have put forward a proposal (for the Parliament to approve) designed to achieve two objectives :
(a) the first is for a mission to be sent to
Hong Kong and Macau in order to establish a channel of communication so as to analyse every possibility for the fostering of cooperation between the European Community and the two territories during the transition periods; and
(b) the second is to ensure that the galvanization
of initiatives, both public and private, which
will enable Hong Kong and Macau effectively
to remain after the transfer of sovereignties, the protagonists in the cultural dialogue between the peoples of Europe and the peoples
of Orient.
