studies from 1961, 1980 and 1983 are being looked at again in view of the saturation of Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong. Several investors and airlines are being asked to define needs. PRC supportive. Decision in principle expected this year.
There is said to be a strong demand for land in Macao and several reclamation works are in hand: 30 hectares on Macao, 20 hectares on Taipa for housing plus another 30 hectares for sewage works and the proposed incinerator.
A master plan for development was presented to the administration in May 1985. It is hoped to finalise it this June. An Office of Execution of the Plan has been formed under the supervision of the Under Secretary for Public Works.
Everyone on the visit asked to be told about tender documents as they became available. We were promised that we would be notified.
