Unfortunately parking spaces are not in the gift of the
FCO they are entirely controlled by the Councils.
Westminster City Council have a strict policy that in no
circumstances will they provide a mission with more than
5 spaces. Their policy is based on their responsibility
as they see it to ensure a fair distribution of facilities
to all road users. Five spaces would in fact give the
Embassy more parking spaces than any other mission in the
Westminster City Council area.

6. You may be aware that the French Embassy, with whom we
have also had to be in contact because of their unacceptabl
number of fines, have recently and in public agreed
substantially to reduce unpaid fines.
