We should seek to build on the personal relationship established during Zhao Ziyang's visit to the UK and take an early opportunity to invite his successor as Premier, on the assumption that Zhao eventually relinquishes his post as Premier and is confirmed in his position as General Secretary of the CCP Central Committee (at present, he holds both Party and State
positions).
