Dear Kun

Chinese Media Delegation
I enclose details of the delegation invited by the Centre to take part in our "Media and the Citizen" conference with will be held over the weekend of 30th-31st May, 1987. I understand from Mr Xie, the Press Secretary at the Embassy, that they would very much like
Sir Geoffrey Howe (or another senior Minister if he is not available) for publication on their return to China. The journalists in the delegation all speak English and have considerable experience of the West. The Chinese team has been chosen by our associate body The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, whose Vice President, Mr Liu Gengyin, will be Deputy Leader of the delegation.
I am also sending you details of the British participants in "The Media and the Citizen" conference, who cover quite an impressive array of expertise, plus the main topics for discussion.
We expect the delegation to arrive on Thursday, 28th May for a two-week visit. They will be free to undertake appointments in London during the week 1st-5th June, and will probably visit Scotland after that.
I look forward to hearing from you.
