FAREWELL CALL AND HOSPITALITY FOR HU DINGYI, CHINESE
AMBASSADOR TO THE UK
PROBLEM
1. To decide on the form of hospitality to be offered to
Hu Dingyi on the termination of his appointment as
Chinese Ambassador to the UK at the end of June, and
whether to recommend a farewell call on the Prime
Minister.
RECOMMENDATION
2. I recommend that Secretary of State host a luncheon
in honour of the departing Ambassador. I recommend that
we need not ask the Prime Minister to receive the
Ambassador. HKD and Protocol Department concur.
