The Chairman suggested, and the meeting agreed,
that the Steering Group should endorse this recommendation in principle, and note that it would be processed in the normal way. The meeting also agreed that this item required urgent consideration.
Recommendation (ix)
217 vehicles should be provided, including 10 Hospitals Transfer Vehicles. Provision of vehicles should be increased to 309 by 1991 in stages, with delivery by mid-year, and according to the trained manpower available

The meeting agreed that the need for an emergency reserve should be reviewed after the tiering system was implemented, but in the transitional period, the 8 ambulances for emergency reserve could remain as at present. Members agreed to the purchasing programme
for 1986-1988.
Recommendation (x)
FSCC should play a more active role in generating routine information within a more integrated system to bridge the gap between management, control and operational information. A modified tasking form should be introduced at FSCC and call frequency data produced regularly by computer. Activation times should also be monitored by FSCC. The ambulance journey record should be amended and travel times to emergency calls compiled by division and by depot on a regular basis

The meeting agreed to this recommendation. regards the recording of activation time, something would need to work out as to how this could be achieved, before the SGMS was fully implemented.
