Dear Sir,
The new papers reported on 19 July that an elevated access road
leading from Shiu Fai Terrace to the development site at 134-135, Kennedy
Road would be built. The Incorporated Owners of various buildings at
Shiu Fai Terrace held a meeting to discuss the issue on 12 August 1985.
Strong objections were raised at this meeting on the following grounds:-
(1) The project concerns only Kennedy Road. It has nothing to do with
Shiu Fai Terrace and so the elevated access road should not be
built in Shiu Fai Terraco
already
(2) The present road traffic in Chiu Fai Terrace has reached the saturation
point, especially during rush hours when children are going to or return-
ing from school and when adults are going to work or returning from work.
If an elevated access rond is built for the benefit of the development
in Kennedy Pond, more vehicles will pass through Shiu Fai Terrace and
traffic congestion will result, causing a lot of inconvenience to
residents in Chiu Tri Tonnace
(3) There are three schoole in Shiu Pai Terrace and they have everal thoumend
students. The construction of the accens road and the resulting heavy
traffic will endanger the liver of these achool chiliren and the children
and wom 'n living in Shiu Fai Terrace.
(4) The elevated nocean road will alvorsely affect the prices of property in
Shiu Tai Terrace.
(5) Residents of Shiu Fad Terrace will inevitably be inc nvenienced by the
detomoratiour in works which will cause noise and air pollution as well as per 20% mw?
order.
(6) Some residents object
to the works because they think the elevated
