I write concerning the notice made public entitled :

"ROADS (WORKS AND COMPENSATION) ORDINANCE

( Notice under s. 8(2) )

(Chapter 370)

Proposed elevated access road leading from Shiu Fai Terrace to Inland Lot No. 2071 section B, fong Kong

Shiu Fai Terrace is a narrow road. During the past ten to fifteen years many highrise resedential buildings have been built along it and also along the slope leading down to Nos IE and IF -two schools. This Shiu Fai Terrace has now to cars at certain times in the day.

St.Margaret's College is served by eight large buses; six buses serve the pupils of this school. In addition many school-children vans and private cars must come to these two schools. The congestion is aggravated by the steady unbroken stream of traffic raking use of Stubbs Road, denying for long periods entrance to or egress from Shiu Fai Terrace. All this is well know to the Traffic Department.

The Chief Senior Education Officer for this district arranged for a meeting on this problem to be held in this office. Present at this meeting were the following : a The Senior E.D Officer in question,

b) An officer from the Traffic Department,

At this meeting, held on

c) The C.D.O. of the District,

d) The leadmaster and myself.

20th September,1983,

in order of importance were discussed

these two points

a) Safety of the pupils concerned b) Measures to deal with the congestion and delays about which the police had often received complaints .

As a result of the measures proposed and put into effect the situation has been eased and a modus worked out that has reduced the difficulties while ensuring greater safety.
