This
memorandum seeks Members' advice on the introduction of five bills into the Legislative Council. Their object is to implement certain of the revenue proposals made by the Financial Secretary in his Budget Speech on 25 February
1987.
Business Registration (Amendment) Bill 1987

The purpose of the bill at Annex A is to amend the Schedule to the Business Registration Ordinance to give effect to the proposal to
to increase the annual business registration fee, which was last revised in 1985, from $500
from $500 to $550. The fee will apply to all registered businesses. However small businesses, whose monthly income does not exceed certain prescribed limits, will continue to be granted exemption. The proposed increase is in line with inflation and will be brought into force by Public Revenue Protection Order on 1 April 1987.
