The villagers considered that Government should only widen the existing road on both sides and reduce the land take for the Fairview Park Interchange which affects their village as far as possible. Alternatively, the villagers suggested that Government should re-align the road to avoid their village altogether.
The objectors' structures and land are affected. However, Government has decided that a six-lane road with 2 service roads and an interchange at Fairview Park are necessary.
Major reduction of land take from the village is not possible. Concerning the suggestion of a major realignment, it is considered that the realignment would equally affect other persons and would give cause for other parties to object.
Yes.

WHETHER LEGAL
District Lands Office has arranged various meetings with the villagers. After explaining that modifications are not possible, subsequent discussions mainly focuss upon compensation issues. Although Government had explained to the objectors that the assessment and award of compensation, if any, would be made in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinance and that withdrawal of the objection would not prejudice the award of any compensation for which they might be eligible, the objectors refused to withdraw their objection.
