safety at traffic "black spots" where.
accidents are found to be relatively frequent?
Secretary for Transport
Sir,
The Transport Department identifies sites with
high accident rates and ranks them in order of priority
for investigation. Priority sites are sites which have,
in a 12-month period, at least (a) 6 pedestrian accidents;
(b) 12 accidents of any category; or (c) 9 accidents, of
which at least 50% are classified as involving fatal or
serious injury. The criteria are frequently reviewed and
are adjusted in accordance with the accident situation and
staff resources available.
