Aged 48.
Joined the civil service in
September 1960 as an Assistant Education Officer.
Except for a period of secondment to the Asian
Development Bank during 1980, his career has been
spent entirely in the Education Department.

was promoted to his present rank of Deputy Director
of Education in December 1984.
Mr Selwyn Alleyne, CBE, JP
Aged 56. Joined the civil service as an
Assistant Education Officer in January 1956 and was
appointed to the Administrative Grade in April 1957.
lie has held a variety of posts in the former Resettlement
Department, Economic Services Branch and Civil Service
Branch. He was the Director of Social Welfare from
1980 to April 1983 when he became Deputy Financial
Secretary. He was promoted to his present rank of
Secretary, Government Secretariat in May 1984.
Mr Colvyn Haye, CBE, JP
/ appointed
Aged 61. Joined the civil service in June
1953 as an Education Officer. Until he was/Commissioner
of the Hong Kong Government Office in London in
December 1984, he spent his entire career in the
Education Department, becoming its Director in November
1980. He was appointed to his present rank of Secretary,
Government Secretariat in December 1984.
