MESSAGE FOR SIR DAVID WILSON FROM AMBASSADOR KE ZAISHUO,
DATED 28 JANUARY 1987
"Thank you for your letter passed to me by the British Embassy in Peking. On learning of the important new post which you are to assume, allow me to express my warmest congratulations. As you leave the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group, I recall the happy days when we have worked together in the Working Group and the JLG. I particularly agree with you when you say that over the past year or more, through joint efforts by both sides, the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group has achieved outstanding success in dealing with a series of specific but also important issues concerning Hong Kong. This has had a positive and beneficial effect on Hong Kong's stability and prosperity. I very much value the friendly, co-operative spirit and the genuine friendship which has built up between us. I am sure that henceforth the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group's work will continue to receive your personal concern and support. I send my wishes for a happy New Year and for the well-being of all your family.
