Dear Sir David
Our Secretariat has already contacted the Hong Kong Government Office to discover whether you would be free to come over to the Foreign Press Association to meet our members for an informal discussion meeting at a mutually convenient time. I am now writing to confirm our invitation
to you, following a meeting of our Committee at which it was considered to be most useful for our members to have the chance of talking to you.
You probably know our premises already; they are just behind the Hong Kong Government Office. We usually invite our speakers to come at 1130 for a meeting lasting approximately one hour, and then to stay on for lunch with us if they are free to do so. But we can be flexible as to time if this does not suit you.
We very much hope that you will be able to accept our invitation. The situation of Hong Kong as it affects Britain's relations with China will become of increasing importance here, and the foreign correspondents covering British political life will need to have a clear understanding of the issues involved.
Yours sincerely
Roland Hill
