Dear Prime Minister,
This is my fifth letter to you within this five
years. I am very grateful that you have accepted a number of my proposals in the past.
The Governor of Hong Kong is a very important person. A New Governor should not be appointed in a short time and
I disagree with most of the members of the Legislative Council
in which most of them held the view that a new Governor should
be appointed as
as soon as possible. If the British Government has not yet decided who will be the new Governor of Hong Kong, I would like to suggest to you and Sir Geoffrary Howe that
Sir David Akers-Jones should remain as the Acting Governor
of Hong Kong until 1988.
Sir David Akers-Jones has been working in Hong Kong for many years. He is an expert in China affairs and is well
acquainted with several kinds of Chinese dialects. He is also
well supported by the people of Hong Kong and has good
