from the Government Data Processing Agency and, as the programme proceeds, from the Civil Service Training Centre both of whom stand ready; he may need the help of a consultant; he will have to consult Judicial officers, Judiciary staff, the legal profession and others; he will have to co-ordinate all matters relating to finance, procurement and training. One person should have the responsibility for the entire programme but will need a great deal of help.

Training
The main responsibility for training computer staff has been with the G.D.P.A. but with the latter's help the C.S.T.C. is starting to hold courses for managers in the use of micro-computers and is ready to discuss them with the Judiciary.

Strategy
It will not be easy to settle a feasible strategy · Some deserving causes may be latent while less deserving ones are well supported. Finance will be limited as will the capacity of the Judiciary and G.D.P.A. both to ascertain the needs and to implement the programme. It would therefore be wise to see what operations are intensive and also, by reason of volume and relative simplicity, suitable for micros.

By these means relatively low investment can improve the handling of blocks of work within a short time and get Judiciary staff used to computers. Large volumes of uniform, boring, routine clerical work are usually good subjects. A capacity for search amongst stored data can be a need worth answering.
