Dear David
Colin & Clive Nicholls will
have sent you their proposals
relating to reform of Extradition Law.
You will recall that the Home Secretary received my sub committee of the Society of Conservative Lawyers and we emphasised that extradition from England had fallen into disrepute not because of the prima facie evidence rule but because of the rules of evidence.
In response to my suggestion you invited us to put forward our proposals and the paper that the Nicholls twins have submitted to you is the Committees suggestions. I hope you will appreciate that these two know more about extradition than anyone else in this country and I trust you will take their views seriously.
I, for my part, would have great difficulty in supporting a proposal that allowed a prosecuting officer in Nigeria simply to write out a statement setting out alledged crimes which the English courts to bound to act upon.
Yours sincerely
