130 kgs Cannabis seized by Customs

On 4 December 1985, Customs officers seized 130 kgs of herbal cannabis, concealed in a shipment of twenty video games, which arrived at the Kwai Chung container terminal from the Philippines. The consignment was picked up and taken to an address in Fairview Park, Yuen Long where two Chinese males were subsequently arrested. This was the largest single cannabis seizure ever made in Hong Kong. Result: One defendant who pleaded guilty was sentenced to six years imprisonment while his co-defendant who was found guilty after trial was also sentenced to six years. The former played a major role and the trial Judge said had he pleaded not guilty and found guilty he would have been sentenced to nine years.

On 9 December 1985, Customs officers seized 550 gms of herbal cannabis from an incoming Chinese male passenger who arrived on a flight from Manila. He was carrying the cannabis in two cigar boxes.
1.3 kgs Cannabis seized by Customs
Case Reference: CIB/1/385/85
On 24 December 1985, Customs officers seized 1.3 kgs of cannabis when they arrested a Chinese male passenger about to depart on a fight to Japan. The male had the cannabis strapped to his waist.
