250 gms Cannabis seized by NB

Case Reference: CSW/CCR/3381/85

On 18 October 1985, NB officers raided an address at Block 20, Mei Foo Sun Chuen. Inside the flat, officers seized a total of 250 gms of herbal cannabis, as well as a small quantity of heroin and various psychotropic tablets. A British male of Korean decent was arrested in connection with the above seizure. Result: He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment and fined $3,000.

Cannabis plantation neutralized by NB

Case Reference: SK/CCR/685–6/85

On 1 November 1985, NB officers raided a house in Tai Mong Tsai Village, Sai Kung where they seized 168 small cannabis plants growing in pots and a further 42 plants which were growing on a hillside clearing close to the house. A 33 year old Chinese male resident was subsequently arrested.

A search of the area continued with the aid of a platoon of P.T.U. officers and a helicopter from the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force which revealed a further cannabis plantation of 123 plants of various sizes nearby.

A total of 333 plants, being the largest seizure of cannabis under cultivation ever made in Hong Kong, were seized. It is estimated that at maturity the plants would yield about 100 gms of herbal cannabis cach, with a total retail value of about HK$1.7 Million. It is believed that these raids have disrupted the activities of a well organized group of Cannabis distributors throughout Hong Kong.
