the High Court to be unjustified, that certain

amendments by Act of Parliament to the list of

extradition crimes that was originally scheduled

to the Extradition Act 1870, might not have effect

in Hong Kong; and

in any case, the 1936 amendment could not itself

take effect unless confirmed by an Order in

Council under section 18 of that Act, and no such

Order in Council was ever made or sought.

This Bill therefore deletes from the Ordinance

the amendment that was made to the preamble in 1936 and

some consequential amendments that were made at that

time. It also substitutes "Hong Kong" for references to

"Colony".

3. The Bill has no Public Service financial or

staffing implications.
