Dear Mr haw,
POWER OF DISALLOWANCE
1.
2=
Thank you for your letter of 23 July.
I have checked our records and can confirm that The Queen's power of disallowance has not been exercised in respect of any of the Ordinances Listed in your letter under reference. However, see paragraph 2 below. Copies of the usual despatch sent to you at the time each piece of Legislation was assented to are enclosed for your
records.
3.
We have not unfortunately any trace of receiving the 1983 Ordinances on Betting Duty and the Hong Kong Sea Cadet Corps. This is odd as our Legal Library staff have confirmed that they hold copies of the legislation and as they are not sent copies until the power of disallowance action is completed, this strongly suggests that both Ordinances were received in the FCO and processed in the usual way.
We are continuing to search for these two Ordinances (they have probably been wrongly filed), and I will write to you again as soon as they have been traced.
