Thank you for your minute of 15 December asking for NTD's views on the proposed experts meeting with the French.
2. Our answers to the questions in your paragraph 3 are:
(a) Yes. A meeting seems the only way forward.
(b)
It does
NTD would be willing to attend if necessary. however occur to us that if B4 Division wish to participate, the presence of another nationality "expert" would be unnecessary and unjustified (FCO views would be well represented).
(c) Paris seems the correct venue.
(d)
Late January/February seems more realistic. Final choice must obviously depend on constitution of the UK team and availability of participants. If NTD attend, choice of our representative will depend on level of French participation and language in which talks are to be conducted.
