Dear Le Breton,
HONG KONG : BN (0)S: FACILITATING TRAVEL TO THIRD COUNTRIES
1.
2.
Please refer to your circular letter GNP 343/32 of 23 September.
As requested I called on the MFA and delivered a Note based on the draft set out in the annex to your letter under reference. The MFA here is very thin on the ground at present and the Legal Adviser, who would be best placed to comment on this subject, is now in New York. However, the MFA undertook to pass copies to both the Ministry of Justice and the Immigration Service, both of whom have an interest in this matter.
3.
I was told that where immigration and nationality are concerned, these subjects are normally discussed within the Nordic Group, and that the Icelanders are unlikely to reach any decision until they have had a chance to raise it with the other countries concerned. I will keep an eye on this and let you know in due course whether anything substantive comes out of the Ministry as regards their policy on this.
Yours ever,
Stephen Paris
