HONG KONG: BRITISH NATIONALS OVERSEAS: FACILITATING TRAVEL TO THIRD COUNTRIES
1. You will be receiving separately a letter from me asking you to deliver a Note to the Canadian Government briefing them on the new national status of British National (Overseas) (BN(O)) which will come into existence next July and to urge them to afford BN (0)s the same facilities as are granted to British Dependent Territories citizens (BDTCs) from Hong Kong.
2.
In consultation with the Hong Kong Government it has been agreed here that it would be appropriate to make supplementary points to a number of governments. Canada is among these and I therefore enclose a supplementary speaking note which I hope you may find useful.
