I apologise for having taken so long to reply to your letter of 9 October. Being new in the post I have taken the precaution to sound out a few more experienced and knowledgeable colleagues before replying.

The general observation is that the ethnic minorities have not been making any public statements on the matter for some time now.

This, however, does not mean that they are not concerned about their future. I suppose like the average person in Hong Kong the priority is now back to making money but keeping a close watch on what is happening regarding his future.

The present mood among the ethnic minorities may change, however, if the present discussion with the Chinese on the right of abode issue does not result in a satisfactory solution.

What about their MP lobby campaign.
