Thus throughout the passage of the Bill the
Government made it plain, that the granting of British
citizenship to the Falkland Islanders was a reflection
of their unique circumstances, and was not to be taken
as a precedent for any other British Dependent territorie
The flavour of the debates suggest that this was
generally accepted by other Noble Lords.
8.
The British Nationality (Falkland Islands) Act
1983 gained Roval Assent on 28 March 1983. and was
deemed to have come into force on 1 January 1983, ie
at the same time as the British Nationality Act 1981.
