ENTITLEMENT TO BRITISH CITIZENSHIP?
Those who are British Dependent Territories Citizens will normally
be entitled to be registered as British citizens under S 4 of the
BNA after 5 years' residence in this country.
CAN EACH PERSON BRING HIS SPOUSE AND CHILDREN?
Yes.
His or her spouse and unmarried dependent children under the
age of 18 at the time the undertaking is taken up.

ELDERLY DEPENDANTS AND CHILDREN OF 18 OR ABOVE
Elderly dependants and children of 18 or above will be eligible for settlement if they meet the criteria in the Immigration Rules. There is, however, scope for the exercise of discretion in genuinely deserving
cases.

Discretion might be exercised, for example, where an unmarried child remains dependent on his parents and would have no other close
relative to turn to in Hong Kong.
15. POSITION OF DEPENDANTS IN HONG KONG IF THE HOLDER OF THE UNDERTAKING DIES

The undertaking applies to the individual to whom it is given and in principle the undertaking would not necessarily cover his spouse or dependent children. However we would on humanitarian grounds admit the spouse and dependants where the family's plans had already been clearly made to come to the United Kingdom.
PERSONS WITHOUT UNDERTAKINGS WHO MAY COME UNDER PRESSURE TO LEAVE
Individual applications for admission to the United Kigndom will be considered on their merits.
