Through Chris D'Almada, I understand that Sir Peter Blaker, MP, is looking for a List of ex-Servicemen of World War II, who may still be surviving in HK to-day. Chris. has no difficulty in furnishing a List of surviv- ing ex-P.0.W.YHK Volunteers, and some of those who were Locally Enlisted Regulars (eg.,R.E., R.A., or the Chinese Regiment (under Hector Chauvin)), but he has diffiulcties in obtaining
Chris a reliable List of ex.BAAG personell. approached me last week, and I didn't have a List either. Chris, I understand, has already sent his reply to Sir Peter, towards the end of Last week.
Over the week-ends, it suddenly occur- ed to my mind that there were a few Lists, included in Edwin Ride's Book, on the BAAG, as Appendices. I wondered if Sir Peter has ever read that Book, or known that such a book has existed. If he hadn't, perhaps he might wish to read it now.
I understand that you know Sir Peter well, and as you have a copy of Edwin Ride's Book, perhaps, you may be good enough to see your way to prompting Sir Peter Blaker, that Edwin Ride's Book on the BAAG exists, and that it include several List of Names, which may or may not be of use to him at this stage of time, and if he were interested, you could lend him your copy of Edwin Ride's Book.
The point is, as I understood through Chris, that Sir Peter would wish to have some realistic idea, that the NUMBER of World War II ex-servicemen is not that large as would be unmanageable.- in the context of the 'Urder in Council' for proposed B.N.(0), and the granting of British Citizenship for ex-ervicemen.
