spoke on the telephone recently send you a letter setting out the position of persons wishing to settle in the United Kingdom on the basis of their personal financial position or of an investment. These are of course points for the Home Office, but I am confident that what follows represents the correct position.
There are two possibilities
under the immigration
rules. The first i s for someone coming to the country for the purpose of establishing himself in business. Entry clearance for this would be decided by the Home Office. The applicant would need
would need to show that he would be bringing money of his own into the business; that the level of financial investment would be proportional to his interest in the business; that he would be able to bear his share of the liabilities; that he would be occupied full-time in the running of the business; and that there was a genuine need for his services and investment. The money to be invested would need to be more than £150,000. He would also have to show that he would be bringing into the country sufficient funds of to establish an enterprise that could realistically be expected to mainain and accommodate him and any dependants without recourse to employment of any kind (other than self-employment) or to public funds. In addition he would need to show that the business would provide new, paid full-time employment in the business for persons already settled here.
