After the meeting Mr Renton gave Mr Waddington your suggested amendments to his opening statement and wind-up notes, adding that he thought Mr Waddington could in his view be even more forthcoming. Mr Waddington had seen the Governor's most recent telegrams and agreed to look sympathetically at the new wording. There was no suggestion that he might omit the planned references in his opening statement to the no visa entry certificate endorsement requested by Unofficials.
