For $US65,150 (or less) you have:
another passport/nationality for all the family;
a place to live in your new country, fully paid-for;
rental income--whatever the level--while you're not living there; and,
an asset that has some saleable value.
The simplest comparison: what if you'd borrowed $US50,000 to buy, say, a passport in Mauritius (where at least you get your money back!)?
The interest comes to $HK493,290 over seven years, significantly more than your maximum probable overall cost of $HK181,716.20 in Portugal.
A recommended property
One specific development has come to my attention which meets the criteria I outlined about:
it's in the Algarve region;
it's a development of around 200 villas including shops, restaurants, other facilities--and professional management;
it's next-door to a fine hotel and five minutes walk from an 18-hole golf course--one of the most popular in southern Portugal; and,
it's about five kilometers from the coast.
Villas in this development range from $US55,000 to $US85,000. They will also be fully (and newly) furnished--included in the price. The project is being developed by a group with many years of experience in Hong Kong and Europe. In Hong Kong, the project
will be offered by a highly reputed agency.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this Report, a few items of "fine print" had still to be completed, so the project cannot yet be made public. These should be finalised by mid- September. When they are, I'll mail you information.
Naturally
I make this recommendation for several reasons. it's a superior vacation-rental property on the criteria I've listed above. In addition, this development has four other benefits--and one semi-disadvantage.
