of the Briefing Notes and should be numbered D7 and D8. They are numbered thus
in the revised index.

We also suggest a minor amendment to paragraph 22 of the opening speech in
the light of Sir Peter Blaker's suggestion that all the former servicemen in Hong
Kong were in the Hong Kong Defence Force and hence in Crown Service under the
Government of Hong Kong. We suggest that the last phrase of the second sentence
.which may have been the position for a number
should be amended to read "
of the Hong Kong ex-servicemen".
