The BRB's proposal to give

give RTHK a monopoly of the air-time on the two Chinese TV channels between 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. is not considered acceptable. It is a radical change and it would take away a significant proportion of TV prime time from the commercial stations while depriving the public of a choice of Chinese TV programmes during that hour. Since it has been proposed that RTHK

RTHK should continue to be publicly funded, there is little justification for RTHK to оссиру an hour of prime time every day.

In line with the BRB's proposal that RTHK should be given an

increased presence on TV, especially during prime time, it is recommended that:

RTHK should have a statutory right to place up to 12 hours of programmes

per week each of the two Chinese commercial TV services; and up to six hours on each of the commercial English TV services (as a result, the total number of hours made available for RTHK programmes will be increased from the existing 28 hours to 36 hours per week

week for the four services together);
