This statement is no more than an outline of the
decisions already taken by the Government on the major
recommendations of the BRB. Further details will be
given at a press conference to be held by the
Secretary for Administrative Services and Information
to-day.
Sir, it will be realised from my statement how
much valuable advice was obtained from the painstaking
work of the Broadcasting Review Board under the
Chairmanship of Mr. Justice Power and the future
audience of television and radio will owe them a great
debt. Many of the major proposals made by the Board
have been accepted, and in particular I would like to
mention the establishment of a Broadcasting Authority
and a Board of Governors for RTHK.
