Not all organised crime is necessarily

the work of triads. Some syndicates are headed by persons without a triad background.

TRADITIONAL ORGANISED CRIME ACTIVITIES

These activities follow the same pattern as they do in many other countries. The major problem in investigating traditional organised crime is that the victims are scared and only a few courageous ones will come forward. The persons causing the damage and violence are often arrested: those ordering it are not. The activities can be divided into -

* drug trafficking

* gambling

loan sharking and debt collecting

* protection rackets
