We will now go back to the HK Government to discuss
this in the light of what you have said.
To
If we have the opportunity to meet responsible people mestin
of the HK British Government we will discuss this
E
matter and mention your concerns.
Not only Agreement Officers but also young Permanent
and Pensionable officers are concerned too.
A number are leaving rather than have their careers
interrupted in the middle. It's a great pity the
changed conditions of employment could not have been
applied to recruits from overseas joining after a
certain date. Those recruited after such a date
would then know what to expect.
I think the Joint Declaration will not affect many,
just a small number.
The policy has a knock on effect now and affects
overseas civil servants today.

Lu Ping has defined the situation more closely,
this will help, there had been some doubts about
staff Grade A and B posts.

Would you agree to the HK SAR employing overseas
officers long term. What objection would you have
to Hong Kong Government employing overseas officer
long term before or after 1997.
