BY GOVERNMENTS AND NATIONAL SOCIETIES
1985 witnessed another increase in the ICRC's activities throughout the world, especially in Africa where the main emphasis was on Ethiopia.
The total expenditure (regular budget and extraordinary budget, including gifts in kind) came to almost Sw.fr. 536 million, i.e. 75% more than for the previous year.
The regular budget is represented in this total by a cash
expenditure of 77.2 million francs and a figure of 6.3 mil- lion francs for gifts in kind. Cash contributions from governments amounted to 38.7 million while those from National Societies came to 3.5 million francs.
Set out in the following tables is the support given to the ICRC's activities by governments and National Societies in 1985. The ICRC's Annual Report will give a fuller and more detailed picture of all the results for 1985.
