In 1985 the ICRC distributed 150,000 tonnes of relief worth supplies food, clothing, blankets, tents, etc. Sw.fr. 164 million, i.e. three times more than in 1984.

The main relief work was carried out in Ethiopia, where 106,000 tonnes of relief supplies were distributed to the large number of civilian victims of the drought and the conflict situation prevailing in the north of the country.
Throughout the continent of Africa the total amount of relief supplies distributed came to 132,000 tonnes worth Sw.fr. 135 million.
In Latin America the ICRC distributed some 12,000 ton- nes of relief supplies worth Sw.fr. 15 million.
In Asia 3,000 tonnes of relief supplies worth Sw.fr. 5 mil- lion were distributed.
In the Middle East and in North Africa 3,000 tonnes, to a value of Sw.fr. 9 million, were also distributed.
