for funds for the financing of such assistance.
Subsequent General Assembly resolutions have also
called upon the Office of the High Commissioner to take
appropriate action in regard to a number of specific
refugee situations, as well as in regard to displaced
persons who are in a refugee-like situation.
7. The latest examples of such resolutions are UNGA
Resolutions 40/117, 40/132-136, 40/138. 40/132 refers
development-related refugee projects; 40/133 requests
UNHCR to mobilise humanitarian assistance, inter alia,
for displaced persons in Ethiopia: 40/134 requests the
High Commissioner inter alia, to report on the
assistance given to displaced persons in Djibouti;
40/135 requests the High Commissioner, with others, to
assess the impact of refugees on the economy and vital
services of Sudan with a view to preparing a
comprehensive programme of assistance to be submitted
to the international community; 40/137 requests UNHCR
and UNDRO to mobilise emergency humanitarian assistance
to voluntary returnees and displaced persons in Chad
and to report on the implementation of the programme;
and 40/117 and 40/138 both refer to UNHCR and
development without stipulating how far UNHCR has
responsibilities for development.
