Save the Children Fund is the voluntary agency providing social services in the Centre. They aim, through various programmes and activites, to develop healthy community living and community participation. They have undertaken to organize education (concentrating on English language teaching), cottage industry work and recreational activities.

The refugees are required to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and to abide by those of the Closed Centre

Notices informing them of their Rules which apply to them. right to make complaints or requests to the Commissioner of Correctional Services or to Visiting Justices are displayed prominently and they are also advised verbally of this right.

Diets

Separate diet scales for infants, young children and persons of 10 years and above have been devised by the Director of Medical and Health Services and meet nutritional standards determined by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

Communication and Visits

Every refugee may send or receive letters and is provided with a reasonable amount of paper and writing materials for this purpose. Refugees are also allowed to receive visits from relatives and close friends daily during visiting hours.
