OBJECTIVES
To monitor health of infants and promote positive child rearing practice.
To assist parents in preparation
for a new life style, e.g. change of climate/child care methods in a new country.

To encourage parents to stimulate

for a group of volunteers from the camp population in working with children.
To offer a constructive oppor- tunity to parents and other young adults to use woodwork and other creative skills using mainly waste materials. To provide the playgroup with
cheap and simple toys and play materials.
To enable parents to develop skills.

PERSONNEL/TIME NEEDED
1 nurse.
1/2 volunteers from
camp.
2 sessions/week.
1 social worker. 1/2 volunteers from camp particularly teenage girls and mothers.
3 hours/week.
1 social worker/supervisor.
volunteer / 6 children preferably young mothers and teenage girls.
5 afternoons or
mornings / 3 hours.
1 craft instructor -
could be a volunteer.
2 sessions/week +
facility to continue in own time if desired
but under supervision.
SPACE/RESOURCES NEEDED
1 small room.
Basic health care items. Sample clothing, diet sheets, slide/videos of baby/child care facilities method in Western Countries.
1 large room (Pre-school). Sample clothing. Diet sheets. Slides/videos of child
care resources for the under 5 years in other countries. Toys/play materials for
under 5 years.
Simple wall charts on
child care/education.
1 large room (Pre-school). Play materials (simple) including flower/water for making dough and toys from basic materials including toys made by the associated activity group.
