At the same meeting, the Chairman/Rapporteur of the Group of Governmental Experts on International Co-operation to Avert New Flows of Refugees,

Mr. Koffi Adjoyi (Togo), introduced the report of the Group (A/41/324).

Also at the same meeting, the representative of the Federal Republic of Germany introduced draft resolution A/SPC/41/L.5.

At the 7th meeting, on 14 October, it was announced that Bangladesh, Cameroon, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Swaziland had joined as sponsors of the draft resolution.

8. At the same meeting, the representative of Ethiopia introduced an oral amendment to operative paragraph 6 of draft resolution A/SPC/41/L.5, by which the words "as well as" would be replaced by the words "and, in view of paragraph 72 of the report,".

The representative of the Federal Republic of Germany, on behalf of the co-sponsors of the draft resolution, accepted the amendment.

10. At the same meeting, the Committee adopted by consensus draft resolution A/SPC/41/L.5 as orally revised (see para. 13).

11. Subsequently the representative of Israel made a statement.

The Committee then heard a concluding statement by Mr. Koffi Adjoyi (Togo), Chairman/Rapporteur of the Group of Governmental Experts on International Co-operation to Avert New Flows of Refugees.

III. RECOMMENDATION OF THE SPECIAL POLITICAL COMMITTEE

The Special Political Committee recommends to the General Assembly the adoption of the following draft resolution:

The General Assembly,

Recalling its resolutions 35/124 of 11 December 1980, 36/148 of 16 December 1981, 37/121 of 16 December 1982, 38/84 of 15 December 1983, 39/100 of 14 December 1984 and 40/166 of 16 December 1985 on international co-operation to avert new flows of refugees,

Having considered the report of the Group of Governmental Experts on International Co-operation to Avert New Flows of Refugees, 1/

1. Commends the Group of Governmental Experts on International Co-operation to Avert New Flows of Refugees for the work it has accomplished by consensus, as reflected in its report;
